Steel Skyline is all about Steel-type Pokémon, with Duraludon debuting in Pokémon Go.

While you may be busy adding the new Gen 8 Pokémon to your Pokémon Go Pokédex, it's worth taking the time to complete the Steel Skylines Timed Research quest and Steel Skyline research tasks.

You should also keep an eye on the Steel Skyline Global Challenges as each one unlocks an additional bonus for this event.

'Steel Skyline Timed Research' quest steps and rewards

Steel Skyline is the Timed Research quest running during the Steel Skyline event in Pokémon Go. If you want to earn every reward it offers, this means you must complete it before Tuesday 7th October at 8pm (local time). Let this deadline pass without completing the quest and you'll get nothing.

Let's take a look at all of the Steel Skyline Timed Research quest steps and rewards in Pokémon Go. Watch out for spoilers!

'Steel Skyline Timed Research' Step 1 of 1

  • Catch 15 Pokémon - 1,000 XP
  • Catch 5 Steel-type Pokémon - 2,500 Stardust
  • Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokémon - Klink encounter
  • Make 3 Curveball Throws in a row - 3 Rare Candies
  • Win 2 Max Battles - Mawile encounter
  • Power up Pokémon 5 times - 400 Max Particles
  • Evolve a Pokémon - 10 Poké Balls
  • Make 2 Excellent Throws - Galarian Meowth encounter

Rewards: 5,000 XP, 5,000 Stardust and one Magnetic Lure Module.

Steel Skyline field research tasks

Here's the Steel Skyline field research tasks in Pokémon Go:

  • Catch 5 Pokémon reward - Magnemite or Drilbur encounter
  • Transfer 10 Pokémon reward - Trubbish encounter
  • Make 5 Nice Throws reward - Alolan Grimer encounter
  • Make 3 Excellent Throws reward - Skarmory or Bronzor encounter
  • Win 3 Dynamax Battles reward - Duraludon encounter

Steel Skyline Global Challenges

Partaking in the Steel Skyline Global Challenges will help you unlock additional bonuses for this event. These challenges are focused around completing Field Research tasks and catching Pokémon using specific throws.

Here's a quick rundown of the Steel Skyline Global Challenges rewards:

Level 1 Rewards

  • Extra Candy when successfully catching a Pokémon using Nice, Great and Excellent Throws.
  • Players Level 31 or above have an increased chance of earning Candy XL after catching a Pokémon using Nice, Great and Excellent Throws.

Level 2 Reward

  • Extra 5,000 XP from winning raids.

Level 3 Reward

  • One guaranteed Rare Candy XL from winning in-person Max Battles.

Make sure you know the October event and raid schedule. You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.
