Tales of Transformation is the twentieth Pokémon Go Season and will include the Wild Area 2025 event.

In keeping with its name, Tales of Transformation also marks the release of a change that will fundamentally change the world of Pokémon Go - the upcoming levelling changes. This update will increase the level cap from 50 to 80 and could automatically increase your Trainer Level.

Like every past season, Tales of Transformation will also bring changes to the egg pools, new events and season-long bonuses.

On this page:

Tales of Transformation roadmap in Pokémon Go

Tales of Transformation is a packed season, with new mechanics, updated features and new Pokémon:

New Pokémon! Keldeo will finally be available again and this Season will see the debut of its Resolute Form. Players who didn't obtain Keldeo from its pay-to-play quest way back in 2022 will be able to get this mythical horse from the season-long The Tales of Transformation Special Research quest, which will be available from Tuesday 2nd September and will gradually unlock over the coming months. Players who already have Keldeo will receive Candy for this Pokémon instead.

This season also marks the release of Dipplin, Hydrapple and Duraludon! Though the exact Pokémon haven't been announced yet, it has been confirmed that the hemisphere and biome spawns will change.

New Gigantamax, Dynamax and Shadow Pokémon! I know Duraludon is being released because Dynamax Duraludon is going to be released throughout Tales of Transformation. This Season will also see the release of Gigantamax Garbodor (most likely during the Halloween event if the Season trailer is anything to go by) and Shadow Groudon will make its Shadow Raid debut. Though we may also be seeing the release of Gigantamax Eevee if the Season teaser released on the official Pokémon Go X (previously Twitter) account is anything to go by.

New Mega Evolutions! Tales of the Transformation sees us finally receive some new Mega Evolutions. Mega Sharpedo, Camerupt and Metagross will all have their own Mega Raid Days throughout this Season. Mega Sharpedo's has already been announced and I've taken a closer look at it further along in this guide…

Trainer Level changes! Probably the most exciting part of the Tales of Transformation Season is the upcoming levelling changes. This will see the Trainer Level cap increase from 50 to 80, alongside new level-up rewards and some players may even find they'll jump in level based on their total XP when this update arrives.

The levelling update will be released on Wednesday 15th October and the XP Celebration is running until this date.

Weekly Challenges! Another upcoming new feature are the Weekly Challenges. Through this feature, you'll be able to team up with three other Trainers to complete a group challenge each week. Successfully doing so will earn you rewards, XP and an increase to your Friendship Level. It will be possible to create a group with any of the players on your Friends List and you can even get matched with other players from around the world!

Kanto Celebration! The Tales of Transformation Season begins with the Kanto Celebration running between Tuesday 2nd to Sunday 7th Sunday. During this time, you'll be able to encounter a wide range of Gen 1 Pokémon, including Chansey and Snorlax. There will also be four Timed Research quests spread out across the event.

Pokémon Concierge Celebration Event! Celebrating the new season of Pokémon Concierge, this event will run from Tuesday 9th to Sunday 14th September. It sees the release of a new costume Pokémon, Swim Ring Psyduck, and there will be a Timed Research quest for you to complete.

Mega Sharpedo Raid Day! The Mega Sharpedo Raid Day is running between 2pm to 5pm (local time) on Sunday 7th September. It marks the debut of Mega Sharpedo in Pokémon Go! Alongside this, the Remote Raid Pass limit will be increased to 20 and everyone will have an increased chance of encountering shiny Sharpedo after successful Mega Raids.

Wild Area! The Wild Area event has returned to 2025 and marks the last 'big in-person' event for the year. While we don't know much about the Wild Area event at the time of writing, we do know it will be themed around Dark and Fairy-type Pokémon. You can also glimpse Grimmsnarl in the event's teaser, so Wild Area should mark the release of Impidimp.

There will be a Wild Area event in Nagasaki running from Friday 7th to Sunday 9th November. The Global version of the event will then run from Saturday 15th to Sunday 16th November.

Here's a full rundown of the confirmed event we know about so far for Tales of Transformation:

  • Kanto Celebration - Tuesday 2nd to Sunday 7th September
  • Mega Sharpedo Raid Day - Sunday 7th September
  • Pokémon Concierge Celebration Event - Tuesday 9th to Sunday 14th September

  • November Community Day - Sunday 30th November

At the time of writing, neither the spotlighted Pokémon for the October and November Community Days have been revealed.

You'll also be able to partake in Season 24 of the Go Battle League and PokéStop Showcases.

Finally, there will be new stickers and Go Passes throughout the Tales of Transformation.

What are seasons in Pokémon Go?

Originally introduced in December 2021, seasons are in-game periods of time which last for three months and tie together various events around a theme. During this time, a selection of new features and quality of life changes may be added to Pokémon Go.

This includes:

  • Changes to how Pokémon spawn season-to-season, which may see some creatures appearing more regularly or become rarer in the wild for limited time periods.
  • Changes to egg pools and raids.
  • Northern and southern hemisphere-specific spawning, coinciding with the real world season themselves.
  • Highlight specific Mega Evolutions, giving them a power boost throughout the season.
  • Introducing new Dynamax Pokémon.
  • Introducing new Gigantamax Pokémon.
  • Different Deerling forms.
  • A new Go Battle League season, which will be the same length as the season itself.
  • XP boosts or completing specific activities, such as five-star raids for example.
  • Introduce other general quality of life improvements.
  • A range of in-game events.
  • New Pokémon.
  • Occasionally, new features and season long research quests.
