How to complete Choral Chambers in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Choral Chambers is a huge and confusing place in Hollow Knight: Silksong but it’s nothing you’re not used to by now. If anything, Silksong’s Choral Chambers – despite its Pilgrim-like enemies and other threats – is a brief bit of respite compared to prior areas such as Blasted Steps and Sinner’s Road.

To help you navigate what is the beginning of Act 2 of Silksong, we’ve walked through every progression item, bosses, and more. So without further ado, here’s our Silksong Choral Chambers walkthrough.

Silksong Choral Chambers walkthrough

There are two ways in which you will make your way to Choral Chambers in Silksong. The first is via Blasted Steps and beating The Last Judge, while the second, less conventional route is via Sinner’s Road and beating Phantom in the Exhaust Organ.

If you take the former path (beating The Last Judge to enter Act 2), keep left through the Grand Gate – purchasing the Grand Gate Map along the way for 40 Rosaries – and you’ll eventually come to a huge elevator with a lever. This will deposit you in the Underworks which you’ll then need to explore for a bit before arriving back in Choral Chambers.

If you take the latter path (beating the Phantom to enter Act 2), you’ll wind up in the Grand Bellway section of Choral Chambers. I do recommend going ahead and exploring the Underworks at some point while galavanting around the Choral Chambers though; it’s easy enough to accidentally end up in, after all. This Choral Chambers walkthrough starts from the Grand Bellway section of the area.

Collect the Memory Locket

Assuming you have just arrived at the Grand Bellway in Silksong, where you’ll find a Bench, Bellway Station, and your first Ventrica Station, there’s a Memory Locket to grab just a short walk away.

Head left of the Bench and upwards into a narrow passageway. This is the passage you will have come out of after exiting the Exhaust Organ.

Instead of heading right, which leads back to the Exhaust Organ, head left and attack the wall to destroy it. You’ll need to do this twice and then there’ll be a Memory Locket for you to loot.

We’re off to get the Choral Chambers Map next, to make exploration that little bit easier. Make sure you have 70 Rosaries to spare. You're also going to have a brief encounter with Lace along the way but don't worry, there are no surprise boss fights just yet.

Purchase the Choral Chambers Map

We now want to climb up the platforms and bells in this room, avoiding the spiked terrain found along the walls while clearing out the various Reed, Envoy, and other Pilgrim-like enemies here.

Along the way, there’ll be a small room on your right that you can enter. The gate in here is locked for now, but you can interact with the scroll here if you fancy.

There’ll soon be an exit on your left as you ascend this chamber. We’ll finish ascending this chamber and pay a visit to some folk at the top of it soon, but for now, head left.

Keep left and you’ll come to an area with Cogworker enemies and golden platforms. Use these platforms to reach the left-hand side of the room, avoiding the turning cogs below.

Exit the room to the left – hitting the lever to unlock the upcoming door – and jump down to the bottom of the following chamber.

Continue keeping left until you encounter a lever. Attack it and jump down. Go right in the following room, jump down, then left. Climb up the vertical passage here and attack the lever to exit.

Keep left again and you will eventually reach a small machine that requests 70 Rosaries. Pay up to receive the Choral Chambers Map finally.

If you continue to head left of the Map, you’ll run past a downwards exit and find a locked gate leading to a Ventrica Station.

You can jump down the exit here and proceed downwards and right to unlock another Bench, but there isn’t actually much for us to do down there right now. Instead, backtrack and return to the tall chamber where there were glass windows for us to smash.

If you’re not sure where this is, we’ve labelled the route on the below map.

Unlock the Choral Chambers Bench

When you arrive in the aforementioned tall chamber, ascend up the room using the platforms and bells while clearing out the enemies here.

You want to reach the exit in the very top-right corner of the room, which leads to a Bench. Rest!

There’s nothing particularly interesting to our right here aside from a shortcut back to the chamber we were just in, which we have already unlocked.

Unlock the Citadel Spa Bench

Exit back into the tall chamber on your left again. This time, platform down, past the Choir Pouncer, and use the top-most left exit this time. There’s another exit just below this that we’ll visit later on.

You’ll arrive in a room with multiple platforms and some Choir enemies. Platform upwards.

On your right, past the Choir Hornhead enemy, is a stash of Rosaries. Grab them then exit the room to the left.

Clear out or jump over the two Choristor enemies in the following room and exit to the left again. You’re in another tall chamber with platforms, and this time, some of the platforms will disappear at regular intervals.

If you immediately head left and exit this chamber, then keep left, you’ll arrive in the region of The Slab. We don’t want to explore there just yet! Instead, take the downward exit that is along the path here.

After hopping down the above passage, head right to reach another Bench. We’ll come back here shortly, but first, we've got two things to do.

Unlock the Choral Chambers Ventrica Station

Head left of the Bench and exit the room. Keep left to arrive at a gauntlet against some Choir enemies. Good luck with this!

Once they’re defeated, keep left again and exit. Jump to the bottom of the next room and hop down into another exit. You’ll come to the Ventrica Station we visited earlier, except we’re on the opposite side of the locked gate.

Activate the Choral Chambers Ventrica Station and attack the lever to open the gate.

Go back on yourself and return to the Bench from earlier. Make sure to rest.

Meet the Green Prince again

If you head left of the Bench again and into the room where we completed the gauntlet, the Green Prince will now be here. Exhaust his dialogue and once again, head back to the Bench.

Enter the Citadel Spa

Head right of the Bench this time and platform upwards. You’ll come to a lever you can attack which causes some sort of acid to come out of the pipe here. This doesn’t hurt Hornet.

Go a little further right and attack the chain holding up the cage here.

It’ll crash to the ground, breaking the floor and creating a new passage for us to take. Hop down there and you’ll find that you need to navigate multiple chambers that are periodically filled with steam. Fortunately, there are ledges along the way to seek safety on.

Make your way to the end of these steam chambers unscathed and attack the lever to exit, finding yourself in Citadel Spa at last.

Here, you’ll find Sherma having a paddle on your right and can unlock a shortcut back to the Bench on your left.

You can destroy the gate to the right of Sherma to unlock a shortcut back into the tall chamber we were in earlier (where the Choir Hornhead enemy and Rosary stash was).

Do that and return to this chamber. Head upwards slightly and through the first exit on your left again. Go left through the following room and exit into another tall chamber. It’s time for us to go on a lost Flea rescue mission.

Rescue the first Flea

In the following chamber, platform upwards and go through the first exit on your right. Take caution of the disappearing platforms here.

The following room will have more disappearing platforms we need to carefully traverse across to avoid the spiked floor below. There’ll also be a pesky Choir Bellbearer here for us to kill while we’re at it.

At the end of the room, you’ll find a lost Flea trapped in a cage. Attack the cage to free it.

That’s one Flea down. We’ll be rescuing a second one soon.

Collect the Cogheart Piece

Exit the room where you have just freed the Flea. Continue platforming upwards and take the next exit on your left to come to a room with a memory puzzle in it.

Stand on the platform in the middle and the bells will play in a specific order that you need to memorise. If you then attack the bells in the correct order, a second set of bells will be played.

If you hit the bells in the correct order a second time, a little altar will appear in the middle of the room where you can claim a Cogheart Piece. These will come in use later.

You can now exit the room and continue platforming upwards. Try to reach the top-left exit in this chamber.

Meet Grindle

In the next room, kill the Reed enemy and chat to our thief friend, Grindle. What ensues is a very funny interaction between him and Hornet. Enjoy!

When you’re done, exit the room and go into the top-right exit of the chamber next. Make your way through the following passageways and keep right.

You’ll soon arrive at the top of a tall chamber. We were at the bottom of this earlier, but the upper half was blocked.

Dive to the bottom (being mindful of the Choir enemies along the way and Choir Elder enemy at the bottom) and whack the lever to unlock a shortcut between the bottom and top halves of this chamber.

After activating the shortcut, you can jump down and head left to pass through Citadel Spa and reach the Citadel Spa Bench if needed.

To continue, you want to platform about halfway up the tall chamber and look for a broken bit of wall on your right.

Clear out any nearby enemies and attack it, slowly, using Drifter’s Cloak to avoid the spikes below. Once destroyed, a hidden passage is revealed.

Rescue the second Flea

In the hidden passage, repeatedly attack the fan at the bottom to create a drift. Use Drifter’s Cloak to glide… until you reach a dead end. Exit the room.

If you platform further up the tall chamber and keep an eye on the wall to your right, you’ll find a second breakable wall. This one is fortunately much easier to destroy.

Use Drifter’s Cloak to glide up the very middle of the passage, steering clear of the blades on either side. At the top, you’ll find a sleeping lost Flea. Attack him to wake him up and send him back to the Flea Caravan.

With both of the Fleas in Choral Chambers rescued, let’s quickly grab a Bench and keep going. We’ve a few more things to do yet before we’re done with this area.

Unlock the next Bench

Exit the passage containing the lost Flea and make your way to the top of the tall chamber. Exit via the top-left door. The next room is full of Choir enemies, so jump past them or kill them.

Pass through into the next room to find a Bench. No Rosaries required!

Now we’re rested, exit this room and return to the tall chamber. There is a small platforming challenge along the way (pictured below) that you can do if you want; you’ll find a Rosary stash at the top as your reward.

This time, when you reach the tall chamber, use the exit in the top right-hand corner. In the next room, use the downwards exit.

In the following room, platform down past the Choir enemies to reach another downward exit. Hop down it.

Meet Loyal Mergwin

You’ll now arrive in a dark room. Attack the lever on your left then head right, where there is another lever you can attack. Head further right to find a strange glass ornament containing the Pale Oil that Bellhart’s Pinmaster Plinney requested – attack it.

Upon attacking the ornament, Loyal Mergwin will appear for you to speak to. Accept the Great Taste of Pharloom Wish from him; it appears you must complete this Wish if you want to claim the Pale Oil.

Up next, we’re going to do some serious backtracking to meet the final few NPCs in this area before facing the boss.

Either make your way back to the Grand Bellway on foot, or head to the Choral Chambers Ventrica Station and use this to fast travel to the Grand Bellway Ventrica Station.

Activate the first Shrine and explore Songclave

From the Grand Bellway Ventrica Station, head left and exit into a tall chamber we were in earlier. You want to use the platforms and bells to make it to the very top of this chamber while clearing out the Choir enemies (the flying ones at least).

Towards the top of the chamber, there’ll be a sign with three needles on it on the right-hand side of the room. Break the glass window here to reveal a passage but don’t bother going inside just yet. It’s a dead end right now.

Exit via the very top of this chamber and hit the lever you arrive at to create a passage upwards.

Hornet stands beside a lever in Choral Chambers in Hollow Knight: Silksong

In the next chamber, we’ve more platforming to do to reach the top. Along the way, there’s a room on your right containing a Cogworker and some Silk machines. Nothing much else here.

At the top of the chamber, attack the lever in the top right-hand corner to enter a new room.

This following room contains more passages filled with steam that you’ll need to carefully traverse. You’ll eventually exit into a corridor with a lone Drapefly. Hit the lever at the end to continue into a new subsection of Choral Chambers: Songclave.

Keep right past the building to loot a White Key from a corpse, then enter the building.

Inside the building, attack the Silk that is blocking the bell, then attack the lever that appears. A sign saying ‘First Shrine’ will appear; that’s what you have just activated!

Rest and exit the building. You’ll be automatically prompted to speak to the Caretaker.

If you head left and upwards, you can also unlock the First Shrine Ventrica Station for 80 Rosaries. Handy! Now, go and rest at the First Shrine Bench again then exit the building.

A new Wish Board and another NPC – Scared Pilgrim – will have appeared. Collect all the Wishes from the Board, paying special attention to The Wandering Merchant Wish.

We’re going to quickly complete this Wish before defeating Choral Chambers’ boss, as it allows us to unlock a new merchant, Jubilana, who sells a Mask Shard and other useful items.

Meet Jubilana

Use the First Shrine Ventrica Station to fast travel to the Grand Bellway Ventrica Station.

From the Grand Bellway, head left – past the Bellway Station – and in the first tall chamber you come to, use the second left exit.

Go left along the halls, steering clear of the Choir enemies, and in the next tall chamber, go into the left exit directly across from you.

The route we’re embarking on is marked on the below map in case you get lost.

A route is drawn on the map of Choral Chambers in Hollow Knight: Silksong

In the small room you come to, you’ll need to clear out some Choir enemies. Afterwards, Songclave’s merchant, Jubilana, will hop out of hiding. Speak to her to wrap up The Wandering Merchant Wish, and she will now go back to Songclave.

Hornet speaks to Jubilana in Choral Chambers in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Return back to the Grand Bellway Ventrica Station and fast travel back to the First Shrine Ventrica Station.

Pleasant surprise! Sherma is now at the Songclave. Chat to her then go and peruse Jubilana’s wares; she’s to the right of the Wish Board.

Jubilana sells some very useful items and as a result, they cost a lot. Her inventory includes a Mask Shard for 750 Rosaries, the Ascendant’s Grip Tool for 350 Rosaries, a Simple Key for 650 Rosarirs, and a Spool Extender for 720 Rosaries.

Buy what you need and prepare for the next boss by resting at the First Shrine Bench, as we’re about to go and fight them.

Beat the Cogwork Dancers

From the First Shrine, go left and up, as if you were going to the First Shrine Ventrica Station. Instead of doing that though, exit to the left of the Ventrica sign.

Hornet stands by an exit beside a Ventrica sign in Choral Chambers in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Keep left, dashing beneath the Grand Reed enemies along this route, and hop over the downward exit. You’ll soon arrive at the boss fight against the Cogwork Dancers.

An incredibly fun fight, the Cogwork Dancers are tough but still not quite as troubling as The Last Judge was once you know what you're in for. If you need some help beating them, take a look at our guide on how to beat the Cogwork Dancers in Silksong.

Once the Cogwork Dancers have been felled, the Cogwork Core will open up for exploration and you'll be given a new objective to find the three melodies.

That said, I recommend doing some backtracking and exploring areas you may not have been to yet so we can get some items that will be useful later. Whiteward is your next best place to visit, as this is where we can slowly make our way towards getting the Clawline Hook ability finally.
