Silksong The Mist walkthrough

The Mist is a puzzling area in Hollow Knight: Silksong, with many of its exits spitting you back out at the beginning of the area if you don’t know its secrets. Silksong’s The Mist is an entirely optional area you can wind up in after exploring Sinner’s Road, and if you figure this place out, you’ll find yourself on an alternate route into Act 2.

Silksong The Mist walkthrough

First things first, if you’re exploring The Mist in Silksong, you want to make sure you have beaten Widow in Bellhart and unlocked the Needolin. Hornet’s instrument is our key to safely navigating The Mist.

You might’ve learnt the hard way that one wrong exit or bad fall in The Mist will send you back to the beginning of the area. With the help of the Needolin however, we can make sure this doesn’t happen.

Whenever you enter a room in The Mist, track down the glowing white butterflies and play the Needolin to them briefly; the butterflies in the room will then move towards which exit you need to go through to continue progressing so pay attention to what direction they go in.

Don’t blindly follow the butterflies however and keep an eye on your environment, as The Mist is laden with all kinds of traps and screaming Wraith enemies that will quickly deplete your Masks if you’re not careful. The enemies here are particularly troublesome as they won’t just do damage to you, but they’ll also deplete your Silk if they grab you, meaning you cannot Bind in a pinch. Look out for Silk spools around the area to help you out.

Fortunately, that’s it for this strange area of Pharloom. Avoid the Wraiths and keep playing your Needolin to the butterflies, following them to the correct exits, and soon enough you’ll wind up in the Exhaust Organ section of Bilewater.
