The M4 MacBook Air is still at its Prime Day price on Amazon
The go-to ultra portable laptop, with a surprisingly powerful processor for gaming or coding.

Apple's new M4-powered Macs have been a bit of a revelation for their relevant form factors, with both the M4 Mac Mini and this MacBook Air feeling as if they've been given a handy boost to make them feel like the best version you can get.
From Amazon, this base model MacBook Air is just £849, giving you a sizeable saving against its previous £999 list price, and taking a capable laptop back to its best price ever from the online retailer. This is also the price it was for Prime Day, so if you feel you might've missed out, then you've got another chance. As a bonus, it's also available in all the colours at the time of writing.

Apple MacBook Air M4 (16GB/256GB)Now £849.00 (was £999.00) |
The M4 chip continues Apple's incremental upgrades to the M-series chips from previous years, although arguably provides a larger jump because of both improvements to single-core performance, as well as the benefit of two extra cores on both the CPU and GPU, being bumped up to 10 from the M3's 8. The M4 therefore is quite the beefy choice for everything from basic computing to those more intensive workloads, especially for such a small, and thin machine.
There are also incremental upgrades elsewhere, with the move to 16GB of unified memory on the base model to provide more headroom for intensive workloads and general computing, as well as proper support for multiple displays, with the Thunderbolt 4 ports on the M4 MacBook Air supporting two external screens with the lid up, where it needed to be down on the M3. You also get a more powerful 12MP webcam with Apple's Centre Stage tech that makes sure you're always in frame, being able to zoom and pan at will.
Otherwise, it comes with the same 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display as previous recent MacBook Airs, leading to fantastic detail and clarity, although with the standard 60Hz refresh rate, as Apple hasn't ported the 120Hz ProMotion panels on MacBook Pros over just yet. The 256GB storage on this base model is fine, although we'd suggest picking up some fast external storage for storing more data on.
The port selection of a pair of USB-Cs and the MagSafe for charging also isn't too great, but you can pick up a range of USB-C dongles for reasonable money these days to offer you better connectivity, ranging from options that just add lots of USB-A ports to wider options with an SD card reader, HDMI out and more besides. As for battery life, Apple says this MacBook Air should last for up to 18 hours on a single charge, giving you good endurance for a couple of working days away from the charger.
If you want to grab the latest MacBook Air with a fantastic discount, this fantastic reduction on the M4 option from Amazon is not to be missed.
